Dear President Kotlikoff and Provost Bala,

I am a (your) year PhD student/candidate in the (your) Department. I am writing to express my strong opposition to the union shop clause proposed by CGSU-UE. They've expressed political views that do not align with my own and which I do not wish to support either by belonging to CGSU-UE or by supporting them financially.

(If relevant) CGSU-UE's activity on campus disrupts my professional development by excluding me from student-run departmental seminars and similar activities.

I am grateful for the work Cornell has been putting in to fight against the union shop clause and it is my sincere hope that CGSU-UE accepts the expiring offer set forward by Cornell.
